The "Mixtape Chronicles Internet Radio Show" on WheresTheCulture.com is the broadcast version of my monthly blog article "Mixtape Chronicles". This internet radio broadcast version will feature mixtapes from my personal archive, along with the airing of featured mixes talked about on the MTC blog...

The Mixtape Chronicles blog aims to dig up and showcase more obscure, harder-to-find tapes (coming mainly out of Chicago), that might have slipped through the cracks on most archival mix sites. I take a moment to talk about them and the time period in Chicago when I was first becoming exposed to each mix and lovin' the shit out of each and every one of my clunky ass House music mixes.

If you’re anything like me (or are driving a car that still has a tape deck), then maybe you’ve held on to a couple (dozen) of those cassettes that meant something to you. If you’re like the vast majority of people my age (that spent their high school years chasing down rave parties), you have long since lost that old box of tapes, or maybe wish you still had a copy of that one special tape that melted in the backseat of your car. It’s also entirely conceivable that you’re young enough to have missed cassette culture entirely — in which case the Mixtape Chronicles will hopefully open your eyes to a whole series of mixes (and the culture that went along with them) that hail from a Time Before Digitalia.

Basically you want to tune into the Mixtape Chronicles Radio Show to hear classic hard to find mixtapes from Chi-Town House heroes, as well as street level artists currently making positive noise in Chicago...

*Please excuse the poor recording quality, but I was really feeling his set on this night & there were some nice atmospherics goin on so I decided to go ahead and air it =) BESIDES, after YEARS of listening to old mixes from Deephousepage.com I figured this wasn't actually THAT bad in comparision...

* This tape by the one and only house gangsta himself is by far one of my favorites. Ripped from tape awhile back it still inspires me with my production and djing today.
