The rise of Tom Budden epitomises what can be achieved when a dance music obsessive channels all that dancefloor enthusiasm wisely. By patiently building a reputation and not being afraid of the graft as well as the good times, he’s carved out an enviable position for himself as an in-demand DJ, producer, label owner and promoter. And taking the long term, focussed approach to his passion is now paying off big time.
KARATUK is a project created by Dmitry Meshcheryakov, a russian- canadian musician, producer,remixer. He's been in the music business for over 15 years, starting out as a session musician in Moscow, Russia, eventually getting into electronic music, recording and performing live PA all over Russia. Frustrated by the russian music industry Dmitry moves to Canada in 2000 and starts from scratch.Since then, he's had his music released worldwide under various aliases, covering different genres of electronic music.
KARATUK was created with a purpose of shedding light on the producer's tech electronica side.
Eric Jerome was born in Brooklyn, NY and spent his youth in and around Long Island, Manhattan and Brooklyn. Creative from an early age he found outlets for his creativity through skateboarding, playing bass & keyboards in various bands, working on artwork and going on graffiti writing missions.
But it wasn't until the early 90's when a few Dj friends of his (Billy Anfolisi, Onionz & Jason Nevins) started introducing him to DJing house, dance and break beat records. That's when Eric found he could combine his own style of hip-hop, new wave and punk with house music to create his own unique sound. Eric's list of influences ranges from 80's new wave, Disco, Hip Hop, Funk and all forms of "electronic music"; as Eric says "digging in the crates is a religion."
