Digital downloads are wonderful. For Example, I live in Chicago and believe it or not i have a difficult time purchasing new house music in the local shops. I think the digital music ,if properly used and not stolen, makes it easier for house music lovers to enjoy their music no matter where they are. No more fooling with bad pressings or snobs in shops with overactive egos. its a threat to the Leetist dj's but its time good music is available to all. If you"re a record company or producer you better get with the times or someone else is going to market to your audience. peace to all from Chi- Town

Well... Digital downloads are great and it is my primair way of shopping new records. But i've learned my skills on vinyl. I still prefer vinyl above mp3. Only when I've played somewhere and i need to carry my bag... Then I am very glad that the most of the clubs prefer cd-players! :D

Digital downloads makes it easier to get new tracks and it's also cheaper than CD or vinyl because of the fact that you don't need to buy the whole release, but can choose to purchase the mixes/tracks that are good instead.

Striving for new tracks is typical behavior of djs, not regular music fans who are majority that music industry is relayed on. Still, the number of djs is not likely to be increased so the switch on this extremely cheap format of sound cause music producers to earn less. This might inevitably destroy music industry.

On the other hand, cost of live appearances should increase which can substitute loss on tracks selling.

All above noted is applicable only on underground (small) music record labels who takes the smallest piece of market pie. For major labels sale of cheap mp3s is still profit regarding number of tracks sold.

I think vinyl lets you get to a point in the track quicker than a CD. Of course if you really cheat and use the computer, that's not an issue :D. The old school classics were harder to mix because of real drummers playing so it made it harder to ride the mix into another song that's when slamming came into play. It's much easier to do today because everything is electronic and it hits that beat right on time.

I think house needs to get back out in the mainstream again on metropolitan radio stations like WBLS and WKRS in NY back in the day to let some non clubbers hear what's going on in the clubs. It seems as though clubs for house music is slowly dieing and the bars and grills are taking over. All in all we need to do what ever it takes to keep house alive. I have live thru disco, club and now house music, we need to keep it going!

I think downloads have opened the market wide open. No longer do a few djs hooked up with the dude behind the counter going to get first choice of all the best tunes, now it's thrown open and the top dawgs will know their worth much sooner than later.
